Understanding a Brazilian Butt Lift

While diet and exercise can improve the look of your buttocks, the general size and shape is mainly determined by your genetics. This means that you may not be able to achieve the shape and look you want on your own, and a Brazilian butt lift, or a BBL, may be right for you.

This procedure is becoming increasingly common around the United States and is done by extracting fat through a specialized grafting process from your body, often the stomach, thighs, or lower back. The fat is processed and injected into the buttock to create a rounder, more symmetrical appearance. This outpatient procedure is performed under general anesthesia and many patients do require a recovery time of several weeks.

Optimal candidates for a Brazilian butt lift must be healthy enough for an elective procedure as well as have healthy skin tone through the hips and buttocks and adequate fat stores from which to source fat. Many candidates have buttocks which are out of proportion with the rest of the body or are small, flat, or sagging.
