From there, any extra fat and skin are removed and the incision is carefully closed. To care for the lower eyelid, the incision may be made inside the lid itself. Following the incision, lasers can tighten the skin around the eyes. The end result is smoother skin and brighter looking eyes, and because incisions are so small and made to follow the curve of the eyelid, scarring is almost non-existent. While eye lifts performed on the upper lid generally last five to seven years, lower eyelid surgery is almost permanent.
