Face lifts are a cosmetic procedure focusing on lifting, firming, and tightening facial tissue on the bottom two-thirds of the face, including the cheeks and jaw line. There are two methods of the face lift: traditional and limited incision. In the traditional face lift, incisions go from the temples , behind the ear, and end at the bottom of the scalp. From these incisions, fat is redistributed, muscle tissue is lifted, and the tissue of the neck and jowls are repositioned. After this, the skin is smoothed over the newly scultped tissue and any excess skin is removed.

A limited incision facelift, also known as a mini-facelift, is performed with just a few incisions around the ear. This doesn't allow as much intensive work to be performed, but it is ideal for people who only have minor skin sagging and relaxing. Many people couple a face lift with a neck lift to further improve the look of the jawline or an eyelift to brighten the entire face. A facelift will repair or address the look of fine lines, wrinkles, or skin texture, but those concerns can be addressed with nonsurgical procedures.
