Why Choose Liposuction?

Liposuction is a commonly performed procedure used to remove deposits of fat in the abdomen, buttocks, thighs, arms, breasts, and back. There are two liposuction techniques: suction-assisted and ultrasound-assisted. Suction-assisted liposuction, a plastic surgeon injects a saline and water solution plus anesthesia into the fat cells that are targeted for removal. The fat is then suctioned out using a cannula, a thin tube used for IVs. Ultrasound-assisted liposuction is a bit different. A specific cannula vibrates at high frequencies and radiates ultrasound energy to get rid of fat cells. The cannula is placed in the targeted area, and as it moves through the fat cells, the energy radiating from the cannula liquifies the fat and is then suctioned out. Both methods are highly effective ways of removing excess fat that are performed as outpatient procedures with minimal scarring and downtime.
