If you are thinking about having liposuction but aren’t sure if it’s right for you, read the answers to some of our most frequently asked questions to learn more about this procedure.
Liposuction removes excess fat deposits through a suction method from specific areas of the body, most often under the chin, back, thighs, arms, and stomach.
When you visit us for your first consultation, Dr. Oritz will talk with you about your goals, whether or not you can achieve those goals through liposuction.
People who respond well to liposuction are healthy and at a healthy weight, but have localized areas of stubborn fat that doesn’t go away with diet and exercise.
While liposuction typically targets one area, lipo 360 is procedure that takes a 360 degree approach to contouring and shaping around the midsection, including the belly – both the upper and lower abdominals, the sides, mid and lower back, and even the “love handles.” approach to liposuction that contours and shapes the midsection all the way around (360 degrees). Ideal areas for treatment are the upper and lower abdominals, the flanks (love handles) on both sides, and the lower and mid-back.
Liposuction is not meant to be a weight loss procedure. By suctioning out areas of fat, this shapes the affected area but weight loss is not an intended outcome.
Once your procedure is complete, bruising, swelling, and tenderness in the affected area is common. Following the procedure, you’ll wear a compression garment for six weeks.
The solution we use to liquefy and remove fat also contains an anesthetic agent that keeps the area numb for around six hours. Additionally, our licensed anesthetist administers an IV sedation.
Because you will be coming out from anesthesia, you’ll need to have a ride home from our North Raleigh surgery center. Most patients are fine to go back to work the next day, though it can depend on the size of the affected area. We do recommend you avoid exercise for six weeks and also wear a compression garment during that time.
How long the procedure takes really depends on how extensive the procedure is. During your consultation and pre-op appointment, Dr. Ortiz will discuss how long the procedure takes. The length of your procedure depends on the amount of fat being removed. Dr. Ortiz will discuss the approximate length of your procedure during your consultation and pre-op appointment.
There will be at least three appointments with Dr. Ortiz following your liposuction procedure: 5-7 days post-procedure, two months, and six months. However, we encourage you to call us if you need to see him at any time between your appointments.
It generally costs between $5985 – $8610 but there are a lot of variables in pricing.
The cost of your liposuction includes all of your pre-op and post-op appointments, anesthesia, the surgery and surgical materials, as well as any post-op compression garments. We don’t dispense prescription medication at North Raleigh Plastic Surgery, nor is it included in your cost.
We require a minimum payment of 25 percent of the total cost to book your surgery date, and any remaining balance must be paid no later than two weeks before the surgery takes place. While many cosmetic procedures are not included in an insurance policy, we do accept Care Credit, all major credit cards, and offer a cash discount.
