In order to remove sagging skin and repair and reshape any separated muscles in the abdomen, an incision is made horizontally below the belly button and above the pubic area. To remove excess skin from the upper abdomen, a second incision around the belly button is necessary. After the muscles are restored, the skin is put back with any excess removed. From there, the incision is closed. Additionally, depending on how extensive the procedure is, a new space for a belly button may be created. Once finished, the result is a flatter, firmer midsection.
